English FAL – Literature project – Grade 7
R70.00
This literature project is about a play, Who’s on First by Abbot and Castello. This comic due was very famous in the 1930’s to 1950’s. This project covers all three sections required by the department and it has a video link so that learners can also watch the play. Gr.7 learners are required to include a PowerPoint presentation for Section C.
- Section A: Research (10 marks)
- Section B: Writing (30 marks)
- Section C: Oral (20 marks)
You can download the play here (for FREE):
The project (that must be purchased) comes with a memo and all rubrics required. The assignment is research based and learners will have to do thorough research of the play, the comic due and the life of Abbot and Castello in the 1930’s and 1950’s.
The project is available in pdf and Word so that teachers can adjust it if needed.

Thank you for making assessments easy… especially with the DBE dropping this “project bomb” on Language teachers, as if Covid has not enough challenges of its own.
Please take note of the following 3 points:
1) You refer to Abbot and Castello as a “due” – the correct word is duo (two).
2) Learners at my school do not have access to computers, only some of them have mobile phones and almost none have wi-fi or data. Research is therefore hard as it is, but we’ll try to assist them with print-outs from google searches. A powerpoint presentation is just not possible. Maybe you could suggest an alternative for section C’s powerpoint requirement?
3) In the Writing Process, another spelling mistake: Develope does not end with an e. Should be Develop.

Hi Gerda
Thank you for your comment. We provide this project in Microsoft Word format so that it can be adjusted to suit the needs of the learners in your class. You can even change the PowerPoint presentation and have them create their own comedy skit inspired by Abbot and Castello. You can download some of their famous skits and have your learners watch it in class – I’m sure this will inspire them to create their own unique skits.
