This is a wonderful video by Rawmaths, for revising the properties of 2-D shapes, specifically triangles and quadrilaterals.
There are three types of triangles:
- Equilateral – all sides and angles are the same.
- Isosceles – two sides and angles are the same.
- Scalene – not one side or angle is the same.
We also use the word congruent to describe angles. And this means the same.
Quadrilaterals – again, there are many different quadrilaterals.
Quadri means four – so quadrilaterals are shapes with four sides. Your two most common quadrilaterals are squares and rectangles. Pay close attention to the difference and similarities between squares and rectangles.
Other quadrilaterals are:
- Rhombus – all its sides are equal.
- Parallelogram – opposite sides are parallel.
- Trapezium – one pair of parallel sides.
- Kite – one line of symmetry and opposite sides are equal length.
